Sci-fi with African roots!

Binti (a Himba girl from Earth) receives a scholarship to study at the prestigious Oomza University which is on different planet! She boards the shuttle to transport her to the planet but during the passage, the safety of the other passengers were compromised by the Meduse (blue alien beings with tentacles). We think she was saved by a contraption she found in the desert back on Earth, which she keeps as a good luck charm.

The Meduse were curious how she survived and one of them named OKwu would connect with her and explain the back story on the feud between the Meduse and Oomza University. Can Binti use her skill as a harmonizer to end the feud between these two factions or will she be extinguished before she has a chance at higher education.

Overall, the story line was a bit simplistic in its development and just missed the mark but I gave it 3 starts and will add book 2 to my collection.
